Longyearbyen is the northernmost town on Earth. Traversing the small town during my Svalbard expedition, I was struck by its resilient community. The fellowship, support and knowledge-exchange between Svalbardians is unlike anything I have experienced before. It is the social cohesion that allows these people to withstand the harsh Arctic winters and long polar nights in the high North.
